Welcome to the Tuxedo Party of Canada Cat Welfare Society website!

The Tuxedo Party is a political movement aimed to improve the welfare of felines in Halifax Regional Municipality (and around the world) “because neglect dosn’t work”.

Tuxedo Stan, 2010 – 2013

The Tuxedo Party of Canada was founded by Linda Felix in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2012. Linda was frustrated by the neglect the city was showing towards an ever growing cat population. She gathered a small group of friends together over coffee and suggested that we run Tuxedo Stan for Mayor of Halifax in the municipal election as a publicity stunt to bring awareness to the problem. Not only did local media jump on board but the Tuxedo Stan for Mayor campaign became an international news story!

Elected officials subsequently granted the local SPCA $40,000.00 towards a low cost spay and neuter clinic as well as $250,000.00 over 5 years towards a Trap-Neuter and Return program for feral cats. There are still plenty of cats in need but we no longer have the explosion of homeless cats we once had. The local shelters are no longer turning away cats because they don’t have any room – and we only have no-kill shelters!

We will continue to advocate for the lives of needy cats in Halifax and beyond… because neglect doesn’t work.

Why not check out our Facebook Page where you can follow the antics of the residents of Catopia – Earl Grey, Thelma, TJ and Liam. You can also follow our sister organization, Spay Day HRM to see the great work they are doing to help needy cats every day.
